Madrid: Last evening, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain confirmed the signing of French teenager Kylian Mbappe. Reports claim the deal was forced as UEFA had charged PSG for breaking the Financial Fairplay Rules, and that Los Blancos paid a hefty fee for the Frenchman, costing approximately €210 million, making the 19-year-old the second most expensive signing for the second time in history. It is common knowledge that the French star was an admirer of the club, especially of the club’s star, Cristiano Ronaldo, who also believes that Mbappe is an “exceptional young talent” and openly admitted he would like to see him at Real Madrid over the likes of Neymar Jr. in order to replenish their front line. Mbappe attracted attention from top European clubs two years ago, as he led Monaco to their 8th league title and a Champions League semi-final, as he scored 15 and assisted 8 in the 2016-17 Ligue 1 campaign, averaging a goal or assist at an astonishing 65.26 minutes. A move to French giants Paris Saint Germain on loan, with an option to buy him for an astonishing €180 million! He continued to impress for Les Parisiens, as he scored 21 and assisted 11 in the following campaign. It is believed that Mbappé was brought in as the long-term replacement for the former world record signing Gareth Bale, who has been linked with several clubs. In a recent interview, Bale talked about how he wanted to leave because he wasn’t getting enough game time, while also revealing that he had only been injured for the first six weeks of the season and that he had been a bench warmer for the remaining part of the season. The Welshmen has attracted interest from top clubs like Manchester United and Bayern Munich, who are waiting for an “okay” from Real Madrid. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez said, “He is an incredible player with great potential. He is an incredibly versatile player, and he would be a great contribution to the team. I see him winning the Ballon d'Or in the upcoming years, as well as getting silverware for us.” When asked about how this deal was possible regarding the financial rules, he replied, “We have spent €10 million on players in the last 2 years, waiting for a big signing like this.” Mbappe is said to be presented in the upcoming days before the World Cup in Russia begins in order for him to focus on bringing it back home. The French international is believed to cost a minimum fee of €180 million, with bonuses that could bring up the fee to €210 million. The French star has also reportedly demanded a €20 million signing bonus as well as a €400,000 a week wage, both which Real Madrid have accepted.
