Croatian international Luka Modric has undeniably been one of Real Madrid’s best midfielders, and arguably the best in the world. The 32-year-old played a vital role in Real Madrid’s Champions League and La Liga success last season. His form has attracted many club’s managers such as Manchester United gaffer Jose Mourinho, who has praised the Los Blancos star on multiple occasions, calling him “the best midfielder in the world”, perhaps to shows his interest in the star. The Red Devils may already have other central midfielders like Pogba, Matic, Juan Mata, Herrera and Fellaini, but Jose Mourinho feels United would need “quality midfielders with experience”. Luckily for Real Madrid, they won't miss Modric as much as they have quality midfielders, such as Kroos, Isco, Asensio, Casmerio, Kovacic and Dani Ceballos.

Real Madrid manager Zinadene Zidane also said he would be interested in young stars such as Deli Alli or Paul Pogba to replace the Croatian international. And the Red Devils are also willing to pay a hefty amount for a 32-year-old, with their initial bid of €62 million getting rejected before their monstrous €75 million got accepted. The Spanish side had even considered asking for a swap deal between Paul Pogba and Modric plus €30 million but lost interest when the French star got demanding for a high salary despite being injured for a further month. And it seems like it has been one of those situations where money wins over passion, as the star agreed when the Reds offered him a salary superior to Paul Pogba’s(who earns the most at the club), at £300,000 a week for a lifetime contract, meaning he will have to end his professional club career at the Old Trafford.
